Hear from our owners

We’ve compiled feedback from real owners about what it’s like to own a race horse with MyRacehorse. Don’t just take it from us – learn from their experiences before taking your own leap into ownership.

Kudos to Aftercare Team

A big "Thank-you!" to the Aftercare Team for their follow up that led to re-claiming Naismith. Having watched him for many months as he was entered in one claiming race after another, we're so glad to hear he's being retired. After 6 years of racing, he deserves a new life doing something different! We look forward to hearing about his progress with retraining and his prospects for adoption. Thanks again for looking out for him!

Thank you for such a thoughtful note. We’re grateful for owners like you who care so deeply about our horses beyond their racing careers. We’re excited to share updates as he settles into retraining and begins the next phase of his life. Thank you again for recognizing the team’s efforts and for being part of a community that truly looks out for its horses.

Worth The Ride

While we had several horses prior, SixtyThreeCaliber & Frosted Oats were the first two horses we had shares of that made the whole experience worthwhile. Living in NC, we have to travel in order to enjoy racing as almost every aspect of horse racing is illegal in our state. We travel frequently to Saratoga, Keeneland, Churchill, Colonial, and Fairgrounds. Buying small shares has made our trips even more enjoyable. Also, having "our horses" has made battling cancer more tolerable because it has provided an outlet. Now being cancer free & getting quite the thrill riding along with Seismic Beauty last Fall, we have decided to take a larger step in the coming year & plan to attend the Keeneland sales this Fall. Thanks to MyRaceHorse for giving us the insight to better enjoy a sport we have followed & researched for over 50 years.

hank you for sharing such a meaningful story with us and congratulations on being cancer free! We’re thrilled that SixtyThreeCaliber and Frosted Oats helped make the experience come alive for you, and that having “your horses” has added even more purpose to your racing travels. Knowing that following your horses provided an outlet and something positive to rally around during that time truly means a great deal - and what a ride with Seismic Beauty last fall!

Keep up the good work

While I am a small owner/breeder and have my own horses in play, I own with MyRaceHorse because I want to be supportive to the concept. I believe MyRaceHorse has done an excellent job to provide a gateway to race horse ownership. They have done exemplary work in communication and education to new race fans. While my participate is indeed a micro share, I plan to re-invest any payouts into a future share as a commitment to their efforts. Race on!

Thank you for such a thoughtful review and for supporting the MyRacehorse concept. It means a great deal- especially coming from someone with firsthand experience as an owner and breeder. We’re proud to provide a new pathway into racehorse ownership and to make the sport more accessible through education, communication, and engagement. We appreciate your commitment continuing your racehorse ownership journey with us.

Really like his verbal updates.I am sure they are easier than photos and videos ( which I also like!!!) and hearing the trainer's voice brings something special. Thank You.

Thank you so much for sharing your feedback with us. We’re glad you’re enjoying the verbal updates. We agree wholeheartedly, there’s something special about hearing directly from the trainer! It adds a personal connection and helps bring the horse’s progress to life in a different way. We appreciate you being part of MyRacehorse and thank you for your support!

very disappointed

I bought into 5 horses. I didn't expect to get rich, but my experience has been less than exciting or profitable. Two of the five have been sold returning pennies on the dollar, and a third has gone to the breeding shed and will soon be sold. I couldn't have done worse by gambling away my money by betting on horses.

We understand how disappointing it can feel when outcomes don’t match the excitement that comes with ownership. Thoroughbred racing is inherently unpredictable and considered risky. A good thing to note is MyRacehorse’s one-time payment structure ensures that shareholders incur no additional out-of-pocket expenses for your horse’s ongoing care and the management of the series. The reserve account is funded with a portion of the money collected from the initial offering and purse earnings when necessary to replenish the reserve. This means you know exactly what your costs are at the time of purchase, which is a significant difference from traditional ownership, where the initial purchase price is often far less than the ongoing costs required to keep a horse healthy and in training.

Experience Based

Owning horses from My Racehorse is for the experience, do not think you will make any money. They have every angle covered (acquisition cost, management fee, legal, significant reserves, etc.). Some races you'll only get $2-3 if your horse wins. When horses are retired, you get a lump sum but no detailed accounting of where all the money went. The lump sum for the NY Bred Bundle seems very low considering the reserves. I think the Broodmare Bands are the best way to go. My Racehorse does a great job communicating horse staus, race information, etc., just not much on the Financials when horses are claimed, sold, retired.

Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. You’re right that for many owners, MyRacehorse is primarily about the experience: getting closer to the sport, following horses along the way, and being part of a community. We’re glad to hear you’ve found value in the communication, horse updates, and race-day information, as those are core to what we aim to deliver! As for the financial feedback you gave, when a horse’s series is closed, full financial breakdowns are provided in the closure documents. Additionally, full audited financials are available through SEC, and they are filled twice a year for periods ending in December and June of each year.
